B4tF Good friends of B4tF. Brilliant artists have written an epic album. Kansas meets Renaissance with all sorts of melody and moving arrangements. Gorgeous orchestration.
Bass and drums are powerful in the heavier moments. And the quiet moments are folk prog gold.
This album is just amazingly done.

Well done my friends.

Sven B. Schreiber Lately I've come across some real good prog albums - quite unexpectedly so, because I thought that prog has eaten itself. This is one of them. What's so different from other so-called prog stuff? Well, it gives me the same feeling I got when listening to "Thick As A Brick" for the first time. It's like going on an adventurous journey to explore new horizons. Hard to believe that this band resides in Germany, where some of the worst prog I've heard in my life originates. Thanks Martin & Melanie! Favorite track: The Gunslinger's Creed.

rendref This album is amazing and rich on melodies. Catchy tunes, a myriad of vocals, leitmotifs reoccurring throughout the whole musical journey, a blend of styles, and a lot, a lot of folkish spots - which I love in particular. I also loved couple of the tunes from the previous album woven into the threads of this one. Amazing performances, all of the involved. I also think you spoiled some of the Dark Tower books for me, as I have not read them yet, hahaha :-) Nice job guys.

Track Name: A Tower In The Clouds
A Tower In The Clouds
music: Marek Arnold, Martin Schnella
lyrics & vocal melodies: Melanie Mau, Martin Schnella

A new chapter – on the other side of the world
A tower stands at the center of the universe
Protecting us from darkness
It is said that the mind of a child can bring us down

He's the Man In Black
Fled across the desert
The boy with that pure shine
And the Gunslinger followed
Track Name: The Last Living Member
The Last Living Member
music: Martin Schnella
lyrics & vocal melodies: Melanie Mau, Martin Schnella

I. A Mystical Structure

Since the beginning of time
Good and evil have existed in parallel
We harbour both sides in us
And it is our decision to which we belong
It's the fight against oneself
Which is imperative to win
To conquer the dark side in all of us
There will always be a fight
And it will always carry on

The story tells about a dark tower
Standing in the center of the universe
A mystical structure that supports all realities
Surrounded by a circle
Inside are myriad worlds all around
Outside – are beings
Beings from the darkness

When the tower falls
The dark side will win
To invade and destroy reality
It relates to the Gunslinger
To The Man In Black and the boy with that pure shine

II. Roland Of Gilead

Roland Of Gilead, the last living member of
A knightly order known as Gunslingers
And the last line of Arthur Eld
His guns are forged from the steel of Excalibur

The unique weapon wrought of meteorite
Made for the rightful king
Armed with magical power
Makes him invincible

It's so hard to become a Gunslinger
Only a few have ever made it and
The others were banished
So their age is drawing to an end, to an end
Evil has tainted all hope and all that was left

He was the last Gunslinger
Roland of Gilead
He had the strength and the will to defy
All black magic
The unique weapon wrought of meteorite
Made for the rightfully brave
Armed with magical power
Makes him invincible

His nemesis, The Man In Black
On behalf of the Crimson King
Causes disaster where ever he may roam
Master of the transcendental
With bare hands he could light a fire
He could make himself invisible
Something they both had in common
Reaching the Dark Tower

It was impossible to enter
As long as the universe is balanced
He's in possession of Crystal Balls
Magical items called Maerlyn's Rainbow
Made upon the waters of the Prim
Finally spun to glass
The Man In Black killed everyone
Who walked by Rolands side

III. Maerlyn's Rainbow

This is the Legend Of Prim
A liquid of primordial chaos and creativity
That brought the tower’s might
It's neither good nor evil

So the line of Eld and that of the Crimson King
Find their origin in it
And its energy was used in the construction of Maerlyn's Rainbow

The sorcerer formed 13 balls
The first ones represent the guardians of beams
Each having a secret form of magic
The 13th, the black, shows the tower itself
Which was filled with the evil of the monster infested void
That existed between worlds
They have different powers
Some showing worlds and its secret doors between
Others have the power to transport
And yet others look into the future
All were cursed to bring despair and sorrow
To those who wielded them
To those who wielded them

He's the Man In Black
Fled across the desert
The boy with that pure shine
And the Gunslinger followed

See the Man In Black
Fled across the desert
The boy with that pure shine
And the Gunslinger followed

Jake with that pure shine
Will he be our savior
He's close on your heels
Keep your powder dry

Jake with that pure shine
Will he be our savior
Keep your powder dry
Keep your powder dry little one
Track Name: Jake's Destiny
Jake's Destiny

I. The Painted Pictures

There are cries, a jet of fire overhead
And the earth is quaking
Jake is suddenly wide awake
So frightened he's looking around
Picking up the photograph which shows his father and himself

As soon as he closes his eyes
The painted pictures come to life
A massive dark tower in the clouds
Is Jake dreaming or will it come true

The walls in his room
Are littered with paintings of his nightmares
An introverted boy, everyone thinks he's crazy
When Jake lost his father his whole world fell apart
Lorie, his mum, she loves him so much
But can't stand seeing him like that
And wants to leave all burdens behind

As soon as he closes his eyes
The painted pictures come to life
A massive dark tower in the clouds
Could the sorcerers cast iron will break it down

II. Relentless Pursuit (Instrumental)

III. 1919 Midworld

Everywhere he goes the Fake-Skin creatures appear - beware
Jake hears the warning words of the Homeless

The Homeless Watch out! They'll take you!
They steal kids like you!
Cross over them special ones!
The power of your mind – That's what they want!

In Jake’s dream the Man In Black named two men Gunslingers
He had a vision of an abandoned house
When he wakes up the Fake Skins want to catch him
He has to flee to that house – a portal to a different world

The Homeless Watch out! They'll take you!
They steal kids like you!
Cross over them special ones!
The power of your mind – That's what they want!

He jumps to the other side into an unknown world
His first view over the strange land is simply stunning

Two beautiful moons in the sky
And the bright sunshine's blinding his eyes

He sets out for the unknown
'cross wastelands and desert storms
He reaches a mountain chain
On top - a glowing fire

Someone is pointing a gun at his neck
The man that appeared in his dreams

Jake tells him he's not one of the sorcerers tricks
He came a long way to find him

Watch Out!
They'll take you!

He shows Roland the drawings of his visions

Roland: Boy, when did you first see this?

Jake: A year ago. Who is he?

He's the Man In Black - chasing for the evil

Roland: He is a sorcerer! In all your visions Walter is here, in this place?

Jake: Yes, he is!

Roland of Gilead - protecting you from darkness

Roland: There's a tribe beyond that forest!
We'll go there.
They have seers, who will read your visions.
Let's go! Keep up!

As soon as he closes his eyes
The painted pictures come to life
A tower in the clouds
Will Walter break it down
He tries to catch you Jake
Track Name: The Sorcerer
The Sorcerer
music: Martin Schnella
lyrics & vocal melodies: Melanie Mau, Martin Schnella

I. Evil Forces Of The Dark Side

Jake and Roland are roaming
Through the bleakest forest
Passing relics of bygone times
The evil forces of the dark side
Have sent out their henchmen to catch
To catch the boy with that pure shine

After dusk the companions are sitting at the fire
With a stick Jake is painting one of his visions on the ground
Without knowing it's meaning
Roland says, it's a map, his father showed him a long time ago

He's the Man In Black
Who fled across the desert
To the secret place of no return
Anguished cries, they can testify

A circle – inside all around a myriad of worlds
Outside is endless darkness
In the center of all things stands the Dark Tower
Which serves as the linchpin of time and space
And protects all

The boy begs him to protect the tower
Together they could prevail against the evil
His only aim is to kill the Sorcerer
There is no „we“ for him
And night falls

Roland suddenly awakes as Walter appears in his dreams

Walter: Everyone who walks with you dies!

Drenched in sweat he's looking around
But where is Jake?
Fearfully he begins to search for him

Dad: Jake, Jake! Hey little fellow
Where are you?

Jake: Dad? Where are you?

Dad: Hello mate!

Jake: Dad?

Dad: Long time. It's good to see you
You've grown

Jake: That isn't real!
You're...

Dad: Dead? Not here in this world!

Jake: I missed you so much!

Dad: I missed you too, Jake!
Come on, It's okay!
Let's go home!

Jake: Is it really happening?

Darkness and fire
Darkness and fire

He's the Man In Black
Who fled across the desert
To the secret place of no return
Anguished cries, they can testify
See the Man In Black
Fled across the desert
To catch the boy with that pure shine

II. Distracting Illusions

When Jake is touching his hand
A red hell opens up
At the last second he is saved by Roland

After each attack on the tower
There is a small crack
And the evil creatures of the dark try to come over

It wasn't Jakes Dad
Only distracting illusions

The Fake-Skins built a machine
That is able to convert the pure shine into a beam
That could bring the tower down

But somethings got out
The evil demon hits out at Roland
He injures him badly and dies by his hand

III. Arra

Stranger approaching
Gather round
Stranger approaching
Gather round

The Elder: Long days and pleasant nights!

Roland: May you have twice that number!

The Elder: Haven't seen one of your kind since I
Was a young man
Seeing you here alive
One of that old line
Is incredible

Roland: Who is your strongest seer?

Arra: That would be me! I'm Arra!

Roland: The boy here has visions of this place!
I need to know where it is!
Take a look at these drawings!

Arra: The Man In Black!

Arra: Jake, your shine burns so brightly!
Share your visions with me
Open up and show me
You're surrounded by magic
I can't even begin to understand
Your gift is extraordinary
And it made you see across worlds
That's why you come to find
The Man In Black and he fled to the Northern Wastelands!

In a world you do not know
Someone can here you pray
Where the truth is left untold

Roland: I need to go there
Come hell or high water
It's a long time of travel
Arra, you can get me there faster than that
I know the Sorcerer keeps track of all portal travel
But there's a way to fool him
The Fake-Skins have a base on Keystone Earth
With a portal that can take kids with that pure shine
To the machine, that could bring the tower down
You're gonna help us getting to that place!

Arra: I have read you
You're Roland Of Gilead
Last of the line of Eld!
But the Man In Black has your soul in his pocket
And your heart is consumed by vengeance
You're not a Gunslinger
Anymore!
Not anymore!
Anymore!

Roland: Only a fool would lie to a seer
But the war is over and we lost
The darkness is everywhere, all around
I was fighting to defend the tower
Before most of you were even born
Everyone who walked with me died by Walters hand
I will get my revenge

In a world you do not know
Someone can hear you pray
Where the truth is left untold
The faith is lost for all times

Just a boy with that pure shine
Reminds us in what we believe
Our chance to win this fight

The Elder: I know we agreed
We'd never use the portal
Unless the village was in danger
And even if this means the end
We can't disobey him
It's the law

Jake: I know, he's still a Gunslinger
He saved my life
Track Name: The Final Attempt
The Final Attempt
music: Martin Schnella
lyrics & vocal melodies: Melanie Mau, Martin Schnella

The portal is ready now
As soon as it aligns it should open on Keystone Earth
Will they reach the other side?
Roland becomes weaker, the technology is old

He's just a child whose father died
His world fell apart
He misses him dearly
He needs love and security
Why didn't she watch over him

But the Man In Black is watching through his magic eye
And sends out his henchmen
Just as night has fallen many people are dying
The village goes up in flames
Jake is already captured
And Roland weak as a kitten
Just a last and final attempt

He's just a child whose father died
His world fell apart
He misses him dearly
He needs love and security
Laurie didn't watch over him
Was it Lon, who took his chance, to put him away?
Or is it destiny?

Walter: You couldn't save him, Roland!

Jake: Roland, please help me!

Roland: He's not safe here!
And as long as he's here, nobody is!
We must leave this place!

Lon: Did an evil power help me?
I do not know!
But my desire to get rid of the brat came true
Jake is gone and now Laurie loves me best
Laurie loves me best

Roland is in bad shape
But the medicine shows rapid action
He's stronger than most
Walter has lost Jake’s scent
And is full of rage
For a clue he killed Arra

He's just a child whose father died
His world fell apart
He misses him dearly
He needs love and security
Laurie didn't watch over him
Roland of Gilead
Guns wrought of the legendary sword
Just a child
Is this destiny?

As soon as he closes his eyes
The painted pictures come to life
A massive dark tower in the clouds
As soon as he closes his eyes
The painted pictures come to life
A massive dark tower in the clouds
Could the sorcerers cast iron will break it down
Track Name: The Gunslinger's Creed
The Gunslinger's Creed
music: Martin Schnella
lyrics & vocal melodies: Melanie Mau, Martin Schnella

I. Roland's Revenge

Jake has a bad feeling
While he's opening the front door
Lon is lying on the floor
His worst fears come true
His mother is also dead
Only ashes are left behind
He breaks down in tears
His whole world is falling apart
A message on the wall
Walter was there

Roland: I will kill him for both of us!

Jake: What about the tower?
My mum died, so you could have your revenge?
You know the seer was right
You've lost your faith!
You're not a Gunslinger, anymore!
We shall go our separate ways!

Roland: When I was younger, I would recite the Gunslingers Creed
It calms the heart and the mind
I haven't spoken it in years
Your shine is your weapon and guns are mine
Let's speak these old words

Creed: I do not aim with my hand
He who aims with his hand - has forgotten the face of his father
I aim with my eye
I do not shoot with my hand
He who shoots with his hand - has forgotten the face of his father
I shoot with my mind
I do not kill with my gun
He who kills with his gun - has forgotten the face of his father
I kill with my heart

Just a thoughtless moment
Walter takes his chance
The Fake-Skins kidnap Jake

II. The Sorcerer – Reign Of Darkness

Walter: Gunslinger, did you miss me?
I guess you did!
First you want to save the tower
Then kill the Man In Black
You're like a dog fetching a stick over and over
You tell the kid that everyone that walks with you dies by my hand?
Your soft skinned mother?
Your Gunslinger friends?
Your whimpering excuse for a dad?
Haha!
We both know that no matter who crosses the finish line
The universe will die eventually
Death always wins – that's the deal

All hail the crimson king
The world is in his hands
The reign of darkness will begin

Jake: Roland, they are taking me to that place
Be careful
I will show you the portal code you need
And use my shine to keep it open

All hail the crimson king
The world is in his hands
The reign of darkness will begin

Roland: Hang on, I'm coming for you
Everywhere he flees, I will follow
And save the tower
That's what I'm fighting for

All hail the crimson king
The world is in his hands
The reign of darkness will begin

III. The Secret Place Of No Return

Walter: All righty, let's go
Put everyone out of their misery, shall we?
Have a great apocalypse!
And let's go Jake!
Why are you fighting back?
Why do you resist?
Your visions didn't bring you to him
They brought you to me
He doesn't love you
Doesn't care for you
In fact he's been using you
This entire time to get me
This is why you're here
This is your destiny
Roland, you wanted me to face you?
Here I am old friend

Both arch-enemies
Are fighting one another
Roland gets wounded by the magic of the Sorcerer
With his pure shine
Jake reminds Roland of the Credo
And helps him to recover

In the end the Gunslinger kills the Man In Black with a trick shot
And destroys the machine,
Saves Jake and the other children
The red sky turns into blue
Warm and bright the sun is shining
As of today and for all time
The tower stands at the center of the universe
Protecting us from darkness

IV. Our Savior

See the Man In Black
Fled across the desert
The boy with that pure shine
And the Gunslinger followed

Jake with that pure shine
He will be our savior
Roland of Gilead
Saved the Dark Tower

He's the Man In Black
And he fled across the desert
Jake with that pure shine
And Roland of Gilead followed
The boy with that pure shine
Will he be our savior
And the Gunslinger saved the Dark Tower
